Accounting Year End

This is the last day of the accounting period after which the accounts are prepared. The Treasurer will know the date.

If the charity was set up by a UK trust deed or a will the year end is always 5 April.
The year end is also 5 April for charitable organisations set up outside the UK.

Most church charities an many others have an accounting year end on a different date, typically at the end of a month.

With the introduction of the Charities Online submission process, the accounting year end is less important than it used to be in the paper reclaim process.
